About Us

The main purpose of this blog is to spread the right information to the world about Newari people and their practice on Buddhism. We belong to the Bajracharya clan that has co-relation with the Shakya clan that has the linage initiation recognized since the prehistory of Shakyamuni Gautama Buddha. So, we are trying to put forward our words that has direct connection with the practice of Buddhism from our side as an authentic Newa people. 

I am Sapta Raj Bajracharya and an artist. My family has been active in art sector from around 5 decades since my father's proactive time. We make sculptures of gods and goddess, furniture with traditional designs. I learned about Buddhism from my parents and later on we practice sharing the stories from others too. Through out my life if I have to explain others that how much are we involved in the buddhist practice then my answer is my life since birth started with it's rituals. I followed and am following the culture and now they are tradition to me too. So here I as an author and a newa person would like to call we so that we can share this info to the world.

Chhepu

Chhepu Chhepu is a god who protects us from evils and dangers. His image is kept at the top of door in torana or at the top of window at the main entrance of temple. His image is also kept over the images of gods and goddesses. We can see a huge terrifying face and two hands grabbing big snakes and eating it which means eliminating poisons of universe. There is a moon or third eye on his head it means the wisdom of Buddha. There are horns like a sheep has which is symbol for stupidity and strong determination.
